Preparing for Mount Crumpit 2008

Welcome back to another year of Mount Crumpit, the Holiday movie forum owned and operated by Visions of Silent Earth. After almost seven years, things seem just as promising as ever. From the beginning, we only had one goal: to appreciate the Holidays for everything they are, and to do so through family outings and Holiday movies.

Movie Reviews have always been the biggest part of what we do. The years have shown steady progression, not only in quality, but in quantity as well. Early in its development, Chad and the Bidwell brothers dedicated everything they did to a small collection of family favorites. Each year brought new experiences and new memories, thus catapulting Mount Crumpit into a massive personal endeavor with a massive film archive. This year, they're expecting many, many new reviews. Personally, Chad has gone on to say that he projects about a dozen new reviews from him alone. Andy Bidwell will once again join the team for his eighth year. A founding member, Andy has always had his hands in everything that has ever been undertaken. He contributes a dozen reviews or so, as well as a voice to MCR108.5.

Reviews will receive a facelift. In addition to possible revisions, every review will also feature a short review/rating of its DVD presentation. For example, Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas received a 5/5 rating from both Andy and Chad. They will then list the features contained on the DVD such as Bloopers, Deleted Scenes and any extras that could entice you to give it a look.

With the help of Visions of Silent Earth (VOSE), Mount Crumpit has distinct plans to explore original video media this season. For two years, Chad Northrup, an amateur filmmaker and editor, has proposed the idea of a video that could assist folks in choosing their family Christmas tree. This year, it seems to be in the cards. Director and VOSE co-producer Brad Bidwell has signed on for the project as well. Its unclear who will be the on-camera persona at this time, as the effort is still in the storyboard stage. VOSE has begun to catch fire as of late with their Stop-Motion animation videos, so there could very well be a Christmas Stop-Motion presentation in our midst.

Short and sweet. Mount Crumpit has taken a more modest approach to the holidays in the sense of living it more than documenting it. The constant obligation to document and capture the memories of each holiday season is something that the team has grown from. With this year, and the years to come, they look to grow outside of this project. But worry not, the team will still share in their admiration of holiday films and photography through Mount Crumpit, year in and year out.

Have a great Holiday Season!
