How the Grinch Stole Christmas Board Game
1997 UNIVERSITY GAMES CORPORATION

Object:
To recover the most presents from the Grinch

How to play Version #1:
Players take turns spinning the spinner and advancing through the winding road of Whoville in a clockwise direction. When a player lands on a LETTER square (ex: “r”, “t” etc), he picks up a present from the center of the board. If the toy listed on the present has the corresponding letter in the title, he keeps the present. If a player lands on a GRINCH square, a player must return a present to the center of the board. If a player should land on a CINDY LOU WHO square, he can take any one present from the board. The game is over when the first player reaches FINISH. Who ever holds the most presents wins. However, if all players collectively hold at least 10 presents, everyone wins.

How to play Version #2:
Players take turns spinning the spinner and advancing through the winding road of Whoville in a clockwise direction. When a player lands on a LETTER square (ex: “r”, “t” etc), he picks up a present from the center of the board. If the toy listed on the present has the corresponding letter in the title, he keeps the present. Once a player has collected three presents, he must turn them with the toy facing up. From then on, no presents are to be collected when landing on a LETTER space. Instead, when a player lands on a letter space and the letter is in the name of a held present, he must return it to the game box (not center of board). If a player lands on a GRINCH space, he must collect another present. If a player lands on a CINDY LOU WHO space, they must return one present to the game box. The game is over when one player has turned in all their presents. When returning presents, only one is allowed per turn. Players do not stop on finish, as in this version, several laps of the board may be made.

About:
Dr. Seuss' The GRINCH stole Christmas. A curmudgeonly recluse whose heart is two sizes too small. The Grinch resides in his cave high atop Mt. Crumpit with his dog Max, and plenty of lettuce juice, extra virgin castor oil and sour milk for sustenance. If you're hungry for humbug, he's the special of the day! Annoyed by the out-of-control Christmas festivities in Whoville. The Grinch conspires to deprive the Whos of their favorite holiday, but comes to learn that the spirit of Christmas goes much deeper than tinsel and colored lights. Here's a quick idea of how to play the game: Buy property. Collect Who presents and trade them in for a Who tree. It sounds easy enough-but along the way the doctor may find spiders n your soul, you may get stuck on Mt. Crumpit in a snowstorm... and if things go really bad, you may even become a Whovenile Delinquent! Something Grinchy this way comes! Now it's a little more difficult and a lot more fun! Grab your token and advance to Welcome to Whoville. Become the Holiday Cheermeister and carve the rare Roast Beast. Roll the dice with Whobilation! WHOVILLE-OPOLY is sure to show even the Grinchiest the true meaning of Christmas!

Destroy Christmas for Whoville

Review (IGN.com):
5.0 / 10
I have always been a huge fan of the original animated version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Chuck Jones is an animation god (OK, I exaggerate a tiny winy bit), and it had Boris Karloff (Frankenstien and the Mummy among others) as the narrator as well as The Grinch. Unfortunately just as the live action movie couldn't hold a candle to that legacy, neither can the videogame. The game just feels unfinished. If there was a little more direction in the missions, and the graphics were a little smoother, and the levels had some consistency in the level of difficulty, it may have been decent. As it stands right now, the game is painfully average
